Hyundai Motor will celebrate the completion of its U.S. car plant in Montgomery Alabama.

Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Mong-koo noted at the ceremony in Montgomery. “With the start of operations at its Alabama plant, Hyundai Motor has become a truly global carmaker."

The event has become a media spectacle. Aside from dozens of South Korean journalists from a variety of publications, reporters from Agence France-Presse, the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Bloomberg.com and Forbes magazine are in Montgomery for the event.

One of Korea's top export sectors is automotive. This includes the Hyundai-Kia Motor Group, which has a huge global infrastructure. In addition to manufacturing, sales, and marketing, Hyundai-Kia operates a massive logistics, distribution, and parts network. I work closely with many of the Hyundai-Kia affiliates including MOBiS--the parts supplier. I thought this article in Korea Herald provides a great snapshot of the auto parts supplier.
