Korea's Richest Women
South Korea's Shinsegae Group Chairwoman Lee Myung-hee retained her title as the wealthiest woman in South Korea in 2005. Lee Myung-hee's estimated personal stock assets has grown to over $1 billion this year.
Interestingly, Lee is the younger sister of Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee. She is the daughter of Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chull.
Shinsegae ranks third in the department store business and its E-Mart ranks No. 1 in the discount chain industry.
In Korea, Shinsaegae also operates Starbucks Coffee.
Others on the list of Korea's wealthiest women include individuals connected to the Samsung and LG Groups.
